Guest Lecture Report
A guest lecture was organized by Electrical Engineering Department on “ National Grid System and its operation” by Mr. Rajat Kumar (Dy. Manager) and Ms. Durgawati Mishra (Dy. Mangaer) from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. Bhiwadi. It was organized on 10th August 2017 from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm.The students from EE 2nd to 4th Year and department faculty members attended the guest lecture. 62 students were present in the lecture.
Power Grid is the India’s largest Electric Power Transmission Utility. The ±500kV, 2500MW Ballia-Bhiwadi HVDC shall transmit energy from Ballia to Bhiwadi stations in India over about 780km. Ballia Converter Station is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh approximately 75km from Ballia District Head Quarter. The Bhiwadi Converter Station is located in the state of Rajasthan approximately 60km from Delhi City. Pole 1 of the ±500kV DC Transmission scheme was planned to be put in operation beginning of June 2009 whereas pole 2 was supposed to follow beginning December 2009. The project is owned and operated by Powergrid Corporation of India Ltd., a Govt. of India Enterprise.
Mr. Rajat, Dy. Manager delivered a presentation regarding the ±500kV, 2500MW Ballia-Bhiwadi HVDC transmission. He also described the various sections in the power grid. “Ms. Durgawati Mishra” 2007 passout is our alumni working as Dy. Manager in Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. at Bhiwadi Substaion. We are thankful to Mrs. Manisha Tyagi, with her efforts, the guest lecture was organized free of cost.
