Mechanical Engineering

The mechanical engineering department of institute conducts undergraduate course in Mechanical Engineering. The department imparts basic education, which is essential and helpful to all engineers, whatever is the discipline, to make them successful engineers of future. For this purpose, the department has well established laboratories and workshops, which make the students familiar with various practical aspects related to mechanical engineering. Department has faculty specializing in Non ferrous metallurgy, Automobile, welding technology, production and industrial engineering, machine design. Hence, undergraduate students are exposed to all the above areas of expertise.

Laboratories

Department has well equipped laboratories in mechanical engineering, applied mechanics and fluid mechanics, detailed below:
1.Mechanical Engineering Laboratory
The laboratory has machines, equipments and instruments related to experiments on Thermal Engineering, Automobile Engineering and strength of materials, which form the backbone of mechanical engineering. Various properties of materials like impact strength, hardness, tensile strength, compression strength, bending and shear strength etc. can be tested on the machines available in the lab.
2.Mechanical Workshop
The workshop has six sections viz Machine shop, Fitting Shop, Carpentry Shop, Sheet Metal Shop, Forging and Smithy Shop and Welding Shop. The workshop provides basic practical knowledge and manufacturing processes like shaping, machining, joinery & surface finishing processes etc. The workshop also provides the facilities for the fabrication of projects for pre-final and final year students.
